OVERVIEW

DON’T DIE is a functional wellness drink built around NAD, performance and longevity for the U.S. market. The client came to ALIIIENS at the very beginning – with the product, the ambition and, importantly, the desire to do something provocative in a category where playing safe makes you invisible.
THE CHALLENGE
Functional beverages are a red ocean. Energy, hydration, focus, recovery, performance, longevity – almost every territory is already occupied, heavily funded and crowded with brands making variations of the same promise.
Launching another “better-for-you” functional drink was never going to be enough. We needed to find a position strong enough to create its own space in the category, and an idea provocative enough to earn attention before the client had the media budget of an established player.
At the same time, the product was built around NAD and longevity – two ideas with enormous cultural momentum, but still surrounded by science, biohacking language and consumer education.
Our challenge was to make the proposition radically simple without making the product simplistic.
THE SOLUTION
We decided not to compete for attention. We decided to provoke it.
The client was ready to take a risk, which gave us permission to build the brand around provocative marketing rather than conventional category codes.
The answer was DON’T DIE.
Two words that reduce the entire longevity industry to its most fundamental human ambition. No explanation of NAD. No wellness vocabulary. No complicated promise to decode.
The idea also came with an unusual cultural opportunity. DON’T DIE was already part of the longevity conversation through Bryan Johnson’s movement and Don’t Die Summit, but it had not been established as a functional beverage brand. Instead of inventing another longevity expression from scratch, we saw an opportunity to take a phrase already entering culture and turn it into a consumer brand with a completely different commercial life.
That gave us much more than a name.
DON’T DIE became the positioning, the provocation and the communication system at once.
It gives the brand permission to talk about longevity without behaving like a longevity company; to talk about science without looking pharmaceutical; and to enter performance, wellness, culture and entertainment without being trapped by NAD as a single ingredient.
Most importantly, it gives a new company something particularly valuable in a red ocean: a point of view competitors cannot easily imitate without looking like they are imitating you.
THE RESULT
The client selected DON’T DIE as the final name and concept, and the brand is now being prepared for launch in the U.S.
The strategic territory was built deliberately beyond the first product, giving the company room to expand into new formulations, products, collaborations, content and cultural activations without having to reinvent the brand every time the business grows.
